Terms and Conditions
Appointments
Appointments will be weekly and each session lasts for fifty minutes . The venue for appointments will be advised in advance and may, by agreement, be a counselling room, the counsellor’s home or your home.
Where you are attending a counselling room or the counsellor’s home, CJK Counselling asks that you respect the privacy of other clients, as they should yours, by not arriving too early for your appointment. Your counsellor may ask you to wait outside in your car in which case you will be met. Otherwise you are asked not to ring the doorbell until 5 minutes prior to your appointment as it will not be answered.
All sessions will be conducted face to face. CJK Counselling does not subscribe to email or text counselling and such media, should contact information be given, will only be used to make or vary appointments, or for the submission of relevant material for a forthcoming appointment. In exceptional circumstances and by mutual agreement, it might be possible to hold skype sessions.
Payment
The cost of a consultation will be £45, plus £1 per mile for home visits. CJK Counselling asks that payment is made at the end of each session or in advance for a set number of sessions. Only cheques or cash are accepted although advance payment can be made by bank transfer. CJK Counselling undertakes to give you as much advance notice as possible of holidays or any other need that may arise necessitating the postponement of an appointment. You will not be charged for postponed appointments where you have paid in advance.
Cancellation and missed session policy
If you are unable to attend an appointment please would you let us know as soon as possible and in any case not less than 48 hours. Where there is less notice, or you fail to attend at your appointment time the full fee will be charged. CJK Counselling very much hope that you understand that it is rarely possible to fill appointments at such short notice, which is why it is considered fair to charge for the counsellor’s time.
Confidentiality
Vital to building trust in the therapeutic process, developing the relationship between counsellor and client as well as ensuring your sense of safety, is confidentiality. Counselling, by its very nature encourages the client to be as open and honest as possible and inevitably personal experiences and sensitive information will be disclosed. This requires trust that whatever is said or maybe disclosed will remain completely confidential. CJK Counselling undertakes that any and all information will remain confidential unless both the client and counsellor agree otherwise, for example to your GP. The only circumstance in which confidentiality might be broken is where there exists a serious risk to the client’s life, if another person’s life was at risk or in the rare instance where the counsellor might be liable to civil or criminal court proceedings if they did not disclose client information.
Handling of personal information
CJK Counselling holds all of its client and other records securely and ensures the utmost confidentiality in the treatment of any information held about its clients. No information will be disclosed without the client’s written permission, except under certain rare legal circumstances (e.g. Child Protection). CJK Counselling subscribe to the BACP Code of Ethics for Counsellors and Psychotherapists, copies of which, as well as our own Practice Policy, are available on request. All counsellors working for CJK Counselling are fully insured for professional liability and maintain regular supervision for all client work undertaken. [CJK Counselling has an access to Records policy and comply with the Data Protection Act 1988].
